Reflecting on many years of wondering, searching, hoping and dreaming I thought that the most important thing to find was Love. Whether it was to love someone or to love myself I found, at times, that love had a way of coming and going, being here one moment and then gone the next ~ sometimes fleeting as quickly at the end as it entered ~ feeling as if it were just out of my reach, my grasp, my destiny, spiraling away from me as if in a distant galaxy.

Being engrossed in the romanticism of the movies or the endeavoring fantasies of a fairytale many of us believe that what we are searching for in our lives somehow evades us. When we are forced to recognize this frailty or failure, depending upon how we perceive the situation at hand, our lives can be affected by simple words, touch, thoughts, gestures, compassion and faith as well as the lack of any or all of the above. We find ourselves on a quest for perfection for that special person or that presidential title or the perfect body to adorn our egos as proof of our success in this life. However, have you ever noticed that whenever these ?goals? are attained that at some point we realize that we?re still lacking ~ the secret struggles within us ~ the ones that nudge us towards happiness or the realization that we are not so happy or in love, after all. To be fulfilled, to be loved and to love, to be known in the unknown attics of our hearts, and to be secure in our lives and homes with our families that is a journey within itself.

This past year has been one of several revelations for me ~ perhaps you have had a few yourself especially with the state of the economy, the unemployment statistics, and the worldwide flurry of national and manmade disasters that have occurred in the past few years. Due to a few bumps, slips, and falls along my 40+ year journey on this earth, I have made room in my life for some much needed patience, compromise, tolerance, fairness, faith and love and less room for judgment, criticism, and egotistical values. I have faced the torturous death of my love?s heart and the karmic transitions of the legacies of the head of my family; I have dodged a few bullets yet taken some punches. Fearfully to avoid as much pain as I could measure I was still unable to grasp what I was striving to gain except that I believed that love was the answer, the keys to unlock the door to happiness and success in life. I began to notice that I did not see, feel or was able to recognize love when it stood before me even in my vain attempts, chastising my heart, believing that it was love or true friendship when all the evidence before me, and sometimes others, proved otherwise.

Along the way I have wrestled with the meanings of several biblical verses and for me, ?Seek & ye shall find? has proven to be a significant one. In my journey, I have sought for many things and most were unseen to the human eye but seen through the eyes of the human heart. And each step I have taken in the direction(s) toward(s) what I thought were love revealed to me that what I was seeking was not Love is, at all. It appears to me that no matter how much you love or are loved it is possible to never know that you are Love because there is a piece of the puzzle missing. In the past month one of my observations is that I was unable to see that which stood before me. As the song Amazing Grace states ?I once was lost but now am found was blind but now I see??

What I was truly seeking was not the love of man or of a profession but one of the graces of the Divine that seems to be a challenge for many of us to obtain at any point in our lives. A Christian symbol for Peace is the white dove which seemed appropriate when one of the doves that Noah released, while aboard The Ark, returned to him carrying a twig of the olive branch in its? beak denoting that the rains had subsided and dry land was present. The dove is believed to be the origins for this symbol representing the covenant between God and Noah after the flood. Another powerful blessing to offer one another is ?Peace Be with You?.

Notice how many religions, meditative practices, even ?The Secret? suggests having prayer, a conscious effort to attain a state of relaxation, a focus, a goal ~ a place to connect with yourself and to go within so as to soften and reduce the chaotic voices in our heads. This is a first step in the daily practice that one is to earnestly pursue, exercise, strengthen, and maintain in the forefront of their lives. The search to find balance in their lives and, without this balance, it is more challenging to experience Peace and, of course, Love. What daily activities are you privately engaging in that provide you with the connection to Peace? Stop catering to the political ploys for power and separation that the dramas in the office, our families and our hearts are egotistically magnetized towards. Your connection to Peace will construct and weave the threads of the ties that bind us all together in this world, for our planet, for ourselves and our children, our governments, our social and political agreements. Each and every one of us is accountable for threading this blanket of Peace in our hearts, minds and bodies, in order to allow and encourage comfort, compassion, gratitude, clarity, and a soul purpose in our lives. Without it, we produce the inevitable answer to never ending wars. It is time to end the era of separation that gives ?us? our identity such as bigotry, racism, crime, jealousy, drama, hatred, addiction, fear, isolationism, sexism, or a diagnosis ~ whatever separates you from the rest of us, or vice versa. Stay connected to the One.

Before we may come to understand the depths of Love, one of the key ingredients we are searching for as a planet, as a people, as a spiritual body, is to find inner Peace, then apply this connection daily by living it, sharing it and representing in your modes of communication, touch, thoughts, and spirit. We find that without Peace we do not know what Love is, can, or will be. Peace ~ to me, is a holy place within the heart of ourselves that is reserved for the soul and surrounded by the temple of the body. And where there is Peace then, and only then, will you be able to find & know Love. Seek to find the Peace within you & your life and the Love you have been missing may find you, once and for All.

Look within for the missing Peace ~
