January 2011 ~ Learn The Lesson

Jan 31, 2011

So how are you doing ~ I mean, really, how are you doing with everything that is going on in the world? Seems like we’re seeing how important each and every decision that is being considered and made affects more than just those who are making the decisions. And, how are those decisions being made? What is the desired outcome ~to cause hurt, project pain, create political upheaval or dissension, and compel us to find peaceful and productive healthy relationships? And at what cost are we paying for these calculated risks we call war or free speech, the right to freedom, the right to vote, or the right to drill?

One voice can change a life.
One action can change a world.
One thought can provoke ingenuity.
One life can change another’s life.

You have that power inside of you ~ the right to make a difference in your life.
You can change your life by determining what really matters to you, today ~ not necessarily what kept you from being happy twenty years ago or the sacrifices you made so that another person could move ahead or move along, without you. Imagine what we can do if we put not only our minds but our hearts, souls and intentions together and viewed humanity without separation, without agendas, and without judgment.

I have been given many opportunities in this lifetime to judge others, to be judged, and to judge myself and the cost of doing so ~ of giving and receiving it ~ has been expensive to my overall health and well-being. Not only does judgment separate me from myself and others but from the Life Force, as well. The life that is within each one of us, that is all around us, the force that connects us to each other ~ is life itself.

No wonder there is so much disease amongst us, so many emotions that leave us detached by medications, and so many connections that are not being soldered because of the advances of technology. We are spending less “quality” time having a human experience and more time and money is being spent on pharmaceutical drugs that supposedly help us cope with life. Just take a look at the possible “side effects” of one of your prescription drugs and see if what you think you are addressing (your dis-ease) is worth the risk of acquiring all of the new symptoms.

Judgment is risky, in my opinion, when we think we are resolving a situation with a conclusion and yet, there are repercussions. We give judgment, we live it, we fear it, and we die from it and with it when perhaps the best way to deal with it was to not give it or accept it in the first place. For me, when I judge another or myself (there is no difference in my opinion) it is because I may be afraid of a possible outcome, reliving a past scenario, or simply just utilizing avoidance behavior so I don’t have to deal with it at all. It is simpler, in some ways to judge something quickly than have to figure out what is really going on and take my precious time out of my busy day to “connect.” When I judge, I don’t connect ~ pretty simple. In fact, I create a disconnect not only with myself but with the Life Force, itself.

No wonder things seem so out of place, no wonder people seem so out of “touch”. Is it because we are avoiding the possibility of connecting with ourselves and others because we fear the possibility of judgment or do we race to find the cure and conclude that it is better to judge before we are judged. I have experienced the karmic boomerang of judgment many times and it never feels good ~ it never feels right. Perhaps that is why Matthew 7:1-2 NKJV - “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."

Yes, sometimes it takes me a while to learn the lessons. I am grateful to find that I am slowly learning the lessons, like you are. And, as we continue to use less judgment in our lives, may we find more compassion in our hearts and hugs, our thoughts and prayers, and find more time for our soul to soul connections with each other. And then, a world will be able to experience a healing and in one special moment, we may come to know peace.

Yes, we can…
